INTRODUCTION
The Institute of Validation Technology held a conference on the topic of Cleaning Validation and Critical Cleaning Processes in downtown Chicago, Illinois, July 24 through 27. Along with the main conference, information was presented in three tracks: engineering, analytical, and validation. In conjunction with the principles presented at the conference, an offsite demonstration day was sponsored mid-week by Dober Research Works and held at their facility where cleaning devices and methods were demonstrated and discussed to the benefit of all who attended. Miguel Montalvo, President of Expert Validation Consulting, Inc., served as one of the conference speakers on the validation track. Mr. Montalvo spoke on effective master planning for cleaning validation. The following article was compiled from the speaker’s presentation and attendee notes.
