Jim's column has attracted adulation that borders on hero worship. The hate mail he has had to read felt like acid in his eyes. Both ends of the spectrum have caused him to cringe. The yin and the yang. Thank goodness that the dominant group of readers are in the middle ground.

Starting in the mid-1960s, Jim has practiced pharmacy in Ohio, the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, on Whidbey Island north of Seattle and a small New England village in Vermont. Jim and his wife, Victoria, now live in Galveston, Texas, on the Gulf of Mexico. He still works two days a week in an independent pharmacy. He doesn't want to actually retire. How can you take the clown out of the circus?

Jim continues to write “JP at Large” for Drug Topics. Putting this compilation together was so much fun he is letting his imagination have its way about the next one … some day.
